FunFindsBlog: Luscious Cherries Shouldn’t Be the Pits

Tis the season for lovely fresh fruit, and cherries are sweetest now.  Cherries contain high levels of antioxidants and anthocyanins, nutrients known to relieve pain, inflammation and stiffness. Cherries belong to an esteemed group of super fruits including blueberries, acai, pomegranate, yumberries, cranberries and goji berries — all providing exceptionally high amounts of these pain-killing compounds. Cherries are rich in polynutrients and anthocyanins, which give the fruit its rich, reddish-purple color — the deeper the color, the higher the level of antioxidants.

To learn more about cherries:

Even after all that great information about the benefits of cherries, do you love them, but hate the pits?  Clearly, you can eat them and spit out the pits, but that can be messy and unattractive.  So, here are several alternatives that can make serving cherries less of a mess.

We looked at several alternatives and have selected the following choices for your consideration.

This type of pitter works for one cherry at a time.  Good, but if your wrists are not quite what they used to be, then you might want to consider the next alternative.

“Progressive Cherry-It Pitter”, it pits up to four cherries at a time, accommodates both small and large cherries and is less messy than the aforementioned pitter.  Check out the video that’s embedded here it’ll show you how it works.

Both of the above alternatives are available at Bed Bath & Beyond.

Happy cherry eating!!
